When someone goes to the beach, they most likely sunbathe, swim, build a castle in the sand. When I went several weeks ago, I fished! It was surf fishing to be precise. Surf fishing is pretty much just going into the surf, from the beach, and casting into the waves.

| Whiting |

| Speckled Trout |
On my surf fishing experience, I caught five fish. Four out of the five where a fish called "Whiting", they are a quite common catch. The odd fish out was a "Speckled Trout". This trout had some serious teeth. You could tell he/she was a predatory fish.
It was actually difficult to know if a fish was on the line. The waves constantly pounded the line so it was impossible to tell if a fish was biting or the waves were moving your bait. Several times, I reeled in my rig only to find that nothing had taken my bait. When they did bite it was subtle and quick.
At the end of the trip I had broken one of my rigs and two of my reels. All easily fixable with the proper tools, but still a pain. Even with my technical troubles, I still had fun and I still caught fish.
